Hyderabad, Telangana : The spread of the Virus is so fast, vast and devastating that demand has outgrown that the existing infrastructure was inadequate.

The need for a medical care facility for the mild or asymptomatic is ore because hospital beds that are otherwise needed for serious patients are being occupied by these people by sheer fear. The mild patients do not need much medical attention as some serious patients do. By isolating them in facilities like these help to save the hospitals’ beds for patients who are more serious, critical or those who may need critical and emergency support systems such as oxygen, mechanical ventilator, or other forms of medical intervention.

And this facility is available for free usage.

Keeping in mind the growing need for medical facilities especially for the early stage, mild or asymptomatic patients, a 150 bedded Medical Care Centre is set up in the city. All the facilities are provided free of cost.

Named Project Ashray, it is a Medical Care Centre with 50 Oxygen beds. This can be expandable to 150 beds. It is set up by Society for Cyberabad Security Council (SCSC) a collaborative body between IT Industry and Cyberabad Police, and the IT industry through CSR contributions from United Way Hyderabad. This noble venture is actively supported by IT associations, volunteers and NGOs, disclosed Mr Viiveck Verma.

“Project Ashray is the need of the hour and conceived to help early Covid patients. I appeal to the people of Hyderabad to make use of these facilities offered for free. This way we can also reduce the burden on hospital beds which are meant for patients struggling to breathe  and survive”, says VC Sajjanar, Commissioner of Police, Cyberabad.

The Facility, informs Viiveck Verma the project head for Project Ashray, offers Free COVID care and is operational 24/7 by a team of doctors, nurses and volunteers drawn from Grace Cancer Foundation. It has been functional since May 3rd and is being used to the fullest capacity. Some are already recovered and discharged too.

They are the happiest and contented people as they could avail themselves of some of the best possible facilities absolutely without any cost. But, still, it requires public awareness about the existence of such a decent medical care centre available for use and the message must be spread to the neediest and deserving people who cannot afford the costly treatment.

The place of the Centre is not revealed as the organizers don’t want people to approach the facility directly. To avail of the services from Project Ashray, Covid Positive patients suffering from moderate symptoms needing medical care or isolation facility can call on the SCSC Tele-Medicine (Hyderabad) Hotline 080-45811138. This Hotline is manned by over 80 doctors who are providing free tele-consultation to patients. 6000 calls received in the last 10 days.

With the second wave of pandemic proving to be very devastating, several Industry bodies, SCSC, United Way Hyderabad, in collaboration with HYSEA, NASSCOM, TiE-Hyderabad, T-SIG, AMCHAM, Grace Foundation and other CSR groups have come together and created a supplementary COVID Care facility. The funding for the initial 50 Bed Facility is provided by Real Page, an American multinational corporation that provides property management software to a wide variety of companies.

It caters specifically towards providing Intermediate Covid medical Care to patients who are Covid Positive and are suffering from moderate symptoms.

The Facility is equipped with an Ambulance and Mobile ICU 24/7 to handle any emergencies.

Given the surge in cases, the Core Team is now working towards increasing the capacity to 200 beds and also adding critical support like ventilators.
